Platinum membership

Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase an upgrade to platinum? We're planning a break to Dubai in June and notice that one of the hotels offer free access to the Executive Club room for Platinum members which could be a big saving on drinks and breakfast!

thanks

Re: Platinum membership

Hi Lynda - I think your fastest, easiest, and cheapest way to get instant Platinum Elite status is to get the PCR Chase VISA card.

While I am not a fan of accumulating various credit cards, I just got the card myself for use while I'm travelling. They have been offering 80K bonus points (instant Platinum), 5pts per $ at PC hotels, and 10% rewards points back to you when used. [No, Chase doesn't have me on their payroll :-) ]

I think you do have time to do this. It will take 3 weeks to get the card in the mail. You need to make a purchase to get the 80K points and Platinum status.

Cheers,..

Re: Platinum membership

Fly_Navy gave you probably the best option as he stated. Yes you can purchase priority club point annually (up to 50,000) "reach status upgrade Platinum. Although expensive normally, they do have a 50% bonus offer going on right now. So depending on how many points you need to get to Platinum, it is another option. Find out further here:

Thanks Fly_Navy & Beefeaterschoice! Those were the two options that I would propose as well!

Re: Platinum membership

Sadly I think the credit card offer is restricted to the US and I'm in the UK :smileysad: But thank you for the suggestion :smileyhappy:

Re: Platinum membership

Beefeasterschoice, I think that's the way I would need to go, just need to balance it now with the cost of purchasing breakfast etc. out there.

Thank you for the suggestion

Re: Platinum membership

Hmmmm I thought there was a credit card for the UK too.  I would also ask if you are going to be staying at Intercontinental Hotels, because if you are, you may want to look at purchasing the Ambassador level, as I believe it will get you upgraded as well.  I am not going to lie, I am not too sure about the Ambassador program, but JBa has provided a ton of information on other posts of his, about the whole program.  Enjoy your trip.

Hi Lynda -

There is a card for the UK, the Barclay partner card is available for you.

You can find out more about the card here

Re: Platinum membership

By the way, the PCR Visa from Chase now comes with Platinum status for life. So, get the points of course, but it is no longer the points you get that you Platinum; merely having the card is enough.

Re: Platinum membership

Thanks Carolyn. I have the card but it doesn't come with the Platinum status, at least not that I know of!
