InterConti nental Hotel has a real gem in the Arizona!
For the second time this year, my wife and I spent a long weekend at the InterContinental Hotel's Montelucia Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, AZ with some of our rewards points. I was told that this is the IHG's first resort spa in the US and judging by the reviews, it won't be the last! It was just named the best Spa in the state of AZ and one of the top 6 in the USA.
If any frequent traveler is looking for the perfect place to stay with your reward points to get pampered and totally relax as a reward for all your travel, then this is your place. The resort is only two years old and it is in perfect condition. The staff is wonderful and very professional. They go out of their way to talk to you and make you feel at home. There is a little cafe and coffee shop where we usually got breakfast called "Rave". The food was freshly baked and delicious and the girls that work there are the friendliest of any place I have been, and they know you by name after the first day. They also have a very nice restaurant that offers a breakfast buffet and menu for those who desire a more formal and filling breakfast. There is a very nice outdoor restaurant by the pools called ROKS and the food and service there are outstanding as well. They had a live band on the Friday night that we were there and they played for two hours while we sat down for an outdoor dinner. They had reserved us a table for the event the night before and it was a very nice evening.
Besides all the restaurant choices, there are several pools and hot tubs. Our room was next to the "adult pool" and we spent a lot of time there. They also have a large "family" pool with tubes to float on and plenty of lounge chairs and bar and food service at all the pools. They have two large hot tubs that were the perfect temperature to relax in when it got cooler in the evenings. The rooms we've had both times were large and well decorated. We had a large balcony overlooking the adult pool with a table, two chairs, a ceiling fan and lounge chair.
Now I saved the best part for last---the spa! My wife and I have been to over 10 spas all over the country and none even come close to this one. If you book a massage or treatment, you can use all the spa amenities for the entire day. All the massage therapists that we have had were excellent and most have worked there since the spa opened. They do a custom massage and will apply as little or as much pressure as you like and they are wonderful.
They have a great lounge with the games on the TV and fruit and tea to eat and drink plus a locker room with a locker for your clothes and a robe and slippers provided while you wait for your massage. After your massage, you can go to the relaxation room which is a room with several beds with curtains around them for privacy, very soft lighting and soft music playing. It is wonderful to nap there and totally relax after your massage. It is coed, so your wife or husband can join you. Once your nap is over, you can use the steam room, one of the saunas or the indoor hot tub. If you get too hot, they have a "cold plunge" shower and cold wash cloths. You can spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing by the private 2nd floor outdoor pool that is just for people using the Spa and also offers food and bar service while you relax in the sun. There is a state of the art workout room in the spa as well that rival any gym.
As you can see, we are hooked and are already accumulating our points and planning our next getaway there this winter!
