In a Maldives State of Mind

Places that make you say “Ahhhh”

As the community manager for Holiday Inn social, I’m constantly coming across absolutely breathtaking photographs taken at our properties around the world. Naturally, a bit of wanderlust takes over each time a Holiday Inn hotel shares another perfect sunset or tweets yet another stunning city skyline view, and I find myself dreaming about taking a trip to some exotic locale far away from my office in Atlanta...

I say all this to declare that I’ve finally decided which Holiday Inn will take the honored spot at the absolute tippy top of my (admittedly long) must-see travel destinations bucket list.

Oh, Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, how you make me happy.

Take a second and look at that sunset photo the resort posted on the their Facebook page.
Immediate relaxation, am I right? Tell me that photo didn’t immediately make you stop whatever you were doing, let out a big sigh, and say “Ahhh...”

Some places are just like that, aren’t they? You don’t even have to have experienced them ‘in real life’ yet to know they’re pretty much paradise. That image alone is enough to conjure up visions of experiencing all the beauty the place has to offer with a carefree and nonchalant attitude, far away from the burdens of everyday life. Of course, these visions are all also tinged with a soft glow around the edges, reminiscent of an Instagram photo.

On the island where the resort is located, there is scuba diving, surfing, dolphin cruises, night fishing and more. Really though, all I need is the resort’s spa, the private lagoon, a fruity drink (or several - let’s be real) and these awesome lounge chairs and I’ll be totally good to go.

Hopefully I’ll get to experience the Maldives sooner rather than later and complete and utter relaxation mode at a level that is undoubtedly unattainable in everyday life can commence.

So where are you guys dreaming about visiting right now?

Leave me a comment and let me know - I’d love to hear what place makes you say “ahhh.”

Hi, I am short 1 stay for a offer that will expire soon. Will a points and cash reservation (stay)  with 25000 points and $40 count as a stay?

The Holiday Inn Maldives is absolutely a fantastic hotel that I plan to stay early next year.  However, I wonder whether IHG has any plan to open a hotel in Kota Kinabalu (KK) of Malaysia.   I just returned from m 5-day holiday in KK and stayed in a 5-star hotel belongs to other hotel chain as there is no IHG hotel there.  I have an unpleasant experience in this hotel and am expecting an IHG hotel, even a Holiday Inn Express, in KK as soon as possible.

My last two stays at the Holiday Inn in Freeport Maine both been a "less than pleasant experience. On the first of the two stays, the bedspread was stained and soiled. On the 2d of the two stays, the bathroom mats were stained/soiled. Also all of the bed clothes look s if they had been used by previous occupants. I reported both these incidents to the individuals manning the front desk of the hotel. What more do I need to do to report this to the appropriate Holiday Inn Express Management?

I am a frequent traveler and enjoy using Holiday Inn Express. However, incidents like this turn me off.
