Hotel Indigo San Antonio at the Alamo is an amazing, unique property that provides a unique experience for all of their guests! The hotel is a perfect blend of modern design and historical preservation, with premier views of Texas' most famous landmark, The Alamo. The hotel was built by railroad executive Colonel C. C. Gibbs in 1909, who spared no expense to construct the building with elaborate mosaic floors, marble accents, and elegant architecture. Fast forward 100 years and the building has been meticulously restored and transformed into a fully-functioning upscale hotel. The hotel renovator's worked closely with the conservation society to maintain the building's orginial beauty and integrity. Among items that were preserved, were the terrazzo floors, ornate light fixtures, and mosaic tile floors. Some of the original materials gained a new life in the transformation, like the marble and granite from an unused stairwell now serve as elegant tops for the hotel's front desk, bar, and dining tables.

Location
The hotel’s downtown location is across the street from the Alamo, which means guests stay within walking distance of all of the major downtown San Antonio attractions, including the famous Riverwalk.

Great Hotel in a historic building kitty corner from the Alamo. The staff was very knowledgable about the history of the building which has had quite a historic past. I will definately stay here again when in San Antonio.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Indigo, San Antonio.  We found it wonderful but for the sound of trains blowing their whistle(s) throughout the night.  There is a price to everything, including sleep, it seems.

But the hotel is charming, truly convenient to the Alamo and Riverwalk and a wonderful re-use of a historic property.  The hotel bar/restaurant was cute and the staff was more than helpful.  We will stay there again.  If there were awards for conversion of pre-existing properties to hotels this would be my nominee.

This property will be my next stay in San Antonio! I saw it last time I was in town but I had a business obligation to stay at the Menger. The location is superb.

I burned out on the River Walk a long time ago but the Indigo is across the street from the local "Hop A Bus" stop not to mention The Alamo itself!

The bus goes to the La Villita and Blue Star districts that tourist are just now learning about but it is not nearly as touristy as the River Walk (yet).

Due to my great experiences at the Hotel Indigo in Waco I will seek them out where ever possible. Thanks for the info!
