This is something I would not think about nor track. I just flush with each use.
I do, however think I get the idea you are trying to discuss here.
Does anyone know how many of the renovated hotels have the water saving flush systems installed? I wonder if the cost to replace the toilet sytems would make it prohibitive for IHG to make the changes for a better environment.

In most of Europe the new style are the only type that may be fitted by regulation, a max capacity of 6 litres.

Maybe you will find it horrible, but I don't flush during night (only if it is ...), on the beginning I didn't want to wake up my familly.
Now it is our standard. I think we save like this arround 20l per night. Last year I spent 120 nights in the hotels, then I saved 2.4m3
of water per year. Not bad, no?

Similar to Marky's point, although I do in my room, there are modern systems which are more efficient and use less water, which would save gallons of this precious natural resource, furthermore, as Ron noted there are cisterns which have dual flushing modes for economic use of water.
As for urinals in mens general toilets, the flush your own type not every time due to the amount of water used....however in saying this, on an environmental front, the company could install the system, which flushes urinals from the water used from washing hands {which I do every time} so it would be a win win situation and generate regular flushing......although I must shamefully admit, not all "gentlemen" who use the general loo's wash their hands!!!!!

Being at hotel it is better flush then not to.
More important is eliminating water dripping. Even small dripping multiplied by 24h and hundrets of rooms can be significant.
The same for all of us travaling. Dont forget to close main water valve when leaving for longer then a week.

Yes I do. It is important to use less potable water. The amount of water is finite.
