It may be interesting to ask at what level are we and to what do we aspire?
I am a Platinum Royal Ambassador and I have a goal to stay at this level.
Hi Ronald,
I've been a Platinum Elite member since 2009 and managed to secure the same level a few months ago for 2010. It was my goal this year to secure next years Platinum Elite and will be for 2011....so I need to get the nights in during 2010 and hope we have a few bonus offers coming our way.
Scott
well i haven't earned that much point or stay this year to put me up on my status to the next level.. my target for the coming year is to be able to reach platinum status and hopefully be an ambassador member as well..
I'm currently a Gold Ambassador, however by the end of the year I will be a Platinum Ambassador. Eventually I hope to obtain the much longed for Royal Ambassador status that you have reached.
Ronald, As you are aware of IHG does have two status programs. One is the priority club the other one is the ambassador program. So the question is what status level are you asking for. If you ask for the PC program then I can tell you that I have the platinum level for this year and the next. As for the ambassador program I do currently hold RA status and guess my evaluation will be done this month since me current status will expire in Feb 2010
I am platinum ambassador and don't aspire to anything. I will never have enough qualifying nights
to be a Royal Amb and that's okay.
My goals are more self directed --- to stay healthy and continue to travel. The status titles don't mean much to me.
I am currently PC Platinum and have been for a few years. I am hoping to maintain this status, although my travel has decreased somewhat. I've thought about joining the IC Ambassador group; however, I do not usually travel to areas with ICs.
Thanks for the detail, Ronald. I had not actually tried to calculate the minimum nights since I had been staying around 50 per year. Yes, I try and keep on top of the promos, and if I can maintain for only 16 nights or so, then it won't be a problem.
I am Platinum Elite and may or may not go for Ambassador. I'd aspire to Ambassador and then RA when I am traveling on vacation more,,, after full retirement whenever that might be!
I am Platinum Ambassador. I'd like to get back to Royal Ambassador one day, but at the moment I'm happy with where I am.
Platinum Royal Ambassador...Only recently paid into Ambassador and got the immediate upgrade. Royal certainly makes a difference, have stayed in Intercontinentals 4 times since becoming Royal and been upgraded to Club 4/4, and recieved other good freebies as well...(parking / internet) as well as the minibar / movie. The greater level of service / recognition / appreciation is very evident also.
While it would be great to maintain in the long term, not sure I want to be away from home the number of nights needed to do this.
I've been a platinum member for about 6 years now. Only RA above that but it will not help me in any way at the hotels I stay at. IC's are out of $ range.
But if loaded with points you could book one paid night and follow with W/E certificate. then a rewards night and still in all probably keep the double upgrade?
I have been platinum elite for several years. Got platinum status this year with 17 stays and some other partner help, like the dining rewards program. I will likely aspire to get Ambassador when planning leuisure travel overseas. We would like to visit UK this coming year on a Points Break deal, if they ever post the new listings!!!
Keith make sure you are singed in to all the points bonus promos to ensure a speeding qualification to Platinum Elite.
Out of interest does any one know why the "elite" what does that signify?
I am a Platinum Ambassador, and want to be an RA. I won't travel very often to IC's,except for vacation, but I figure that in itself will be worth it. I plan on using your idea Ronald, and book the first night and hopefully get the upgrades for free nights after that. I hope to make it to Italy in 2011.

This is a program to reward customers for the number of nights they have slept in their rooms.
I appreciate the perks that are awarded for doing so but it is surely not something that I aspire to compete for.
What I aspire to is how I can do my job better than my competition and be at home at night more than they.
I just earned Platinum Status, so I'm now a Platinum Ambassador. I've become an expert at maximizing points per stay by registering for promotions and booking bonus package rates. My last stay netted me 20k plus points
I actually only stayed one night. I booked the 4000 point bonus package. Since it was an Intercontinental I got the 2000 base points. I was also enrolled into the double points promo, a 2 bonus points promo for the next Intercon stay, and a few other promotions that helped me get the 20 points.
I get a wonderful discount through my employer and normally don't earn many points when I stay. I decided to purchase the Ambassador membership to take advantage of the upgrades and maximize the points when I do pay regular rate. It's paid of rather well. I've only had 8 qualifying nights this year, but have earned over 60000 points.
