Going down memory lane I remembered that long time ago I stayed in some Holiday Inns that were kind of old but had great bars downstairs. It was always fun going there because you had a great time.
The two I vividly remember where the Holiday Inn in South Birmingham with the Jitterbug bar. What a place every day of the week a new theme for entertainment, great setups for Happy Hours. Last time I stayed there the hotel had become a no name hotel and the flair was gone.
The other one was in Little Rock, just south of the airport. The hotel bar there had a lot of Elvis memorabilia and was always packed with locals. Great place to hang out, have a burger and a soda, then dance into the morning.
Anyone of you remember or know of IHG hotels that had/have great bars that were/are lively places? Let's hear.
Unless memory fails me, I stayed at a Holiday Inn in Key West FL about a half a century ago... a lively , jumping place with a great bar. . It was not the first HI, but it was in the early days of the chain. . I have no clue if it still there. But like the old song from Gigi, sung by Maurice Chevalier and Hermione Gingold, " I remember it well."
Good discussion idea, JBa
