Whist visiting Dublin, Ireland a few years back, I found myself right in the heart of Temple Bar during Halloween! I had a great time roaming the streets, looking at some interesting costumes, and meeting the most nicest people from Dublin that night. I wish I could go back; however, this year my plans are to stay home and possibly bring my nephew around the neighborhood for some Trick-or-Treating.
Do you have any travel plans for Halloween? Is this an annual holiday you celebrate or just an excuse to wear a costume? ![]()
it's really nice to hear about halloween tradition, like trick or treat, i wish that someday i could witness those tradition because i only see them in movies.. there's not much of that tradition here.. and it makes me excited to see those tradition when i watch movies and all.. i always think that it would be fun to do those things especially it's in the evening then you go out with your costumes..
i have no plans for this coming halloween.. i think that i will have to rest for those days since there will be many people going to the park and sometimes i don't like to be in places where there are a lot of people... one mre thing, there will be a super typhoon that will be hitting the country and it's estimated to have a landfall on the weekend of halloween.. let's pray that it will not bring another destruction like the last one that hit the country..
for everyone else, enjoy your halloween!!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! ![]()
Well..my wife, daughter and her husband are headed out tomorrow for a few nights in Gatlinburg, TN. On Saturday night, we're headed to Knoxville to watch our mighty USC GAMECOCKS (Hopefully) beat the Tenn. Vol's. We went 2 years ago and it was also on Halloween night and we had a great time. WISH US LUCK!!!!
Amanda...WHY did you have to ask me that question ????? WHY ????? LOL
Well...we didn't win. It was COLD and RAINING the whole game and the Tenn. Gobblins (I mean...Vol's) haunted us again. ![]()
Anyways..we all had a safe trip and a great time this past weekend. Weather was beautiful on Friday and we spent the entire day walking and shopping in Gatlinburg. As we usually say...."JUST WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR" !! LOL
find_us_here,
It was cold and raining here too. I did catch a glimpse of the Georgia/Vanderbilt game but didn't see the MOST important game... : ) You're right, there is always a next year! You know I was rooting for the gamecocks? I was born in SC. Do you like Gatlinburg? Does it feel touristy?
Go Gamecocks,
Just for you : )
When our son was young, I always came up with a costume creation and took him trick-or-treating or to a Halloween party. This year my husband and I are taking a short weekend getaway to a location on the water a couple hours away. It started as more of a fall color tour getaway than Halloween plans, although I know there are some activities going on in the area. I'm enrolled in a bonus promo and needed one more night for the 25,000 points! IHG -- those promos do create/increase business.
Hi Amanda ~
Thanks for asking! We had a good time. Traffic seemed about normal on the roads. The hotel bar was really empty, which surprised me. There was not anything special at the hotel bar and the bartender said it was typical to be empty on Halloween weekend. I'm surprised they didn't have some kind of Halloween special in the bar just to encourage people to stop in. The hotel was fairly full for a weekend (it was more of a business hotel) because there was some kind of group get together going on. I don't recall what it was for.
How was your weekend? Did you see a lot of great costumes?
iristina,
Sounds like you had a good getaway. We had more children this year going around the neighborhood. I was surprised by the crowds because it was raining. And, we ran out of candy!
The last group of kids came around 9pm. We headed out shortly after and experienced the same as you. Couldn't find a place to eat that wasn't 'dead.' We ended up eating at a pizza joint in Marietta (suburb north of Atlanta); no specials on food, but I noticed a few beer specials.
How cold is it in October/November in Michigan?
Amanda
The weather was rainy here too, and windy. It's been cooler than normal this year. Sometimes, we are lucky enough to have temps in the 60s in October, but this year's been below freezing a few nights already. I'm surprised you had so many trick or treaters. Seems to have dwindled down each year in our area. We never get any because we live in the woods, but the people that we know that live in neighborhoods tell me it's been less. Not like it was when we were kids!
BTW ~ I am familiar with busy Atlanta and Marietta. I have been there for work a few times and have a couple relatives (aunt, uncle, cousins) that live in the area. They used to live in Marietta and Woodstock, and now they live in Canton and Powder Springs. The traffic makes me crazy every time I'm there, but I LOVE all the restaurant choices! ![]()
I'll be at home, giving the 'trick or treaters' decent treats. I only distribute what my favorite chocolate bars are: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Butterfingers, and Kit Kat bars.
The house has been appropriately decorated outside since October 2nd, and I'm looking forward to carving my pumpkin. His name? Yes, I name him every year. This year, it's Gary.
Enjoy,
This was us dressed up in traditional Arab clothing to celebrate Halloween. I'm wearing a burqa with my head covered, and holding the American flag. I'm not sure why Mike looks mad at me! During the marshmallow Halloween roast, the Flag happened to end up with me, while someone snapped a photo. Enjoy..

We were in a bar last night and someone walked in and a man walked in dressed as Pinhead from Hellraiser. It wasn't the usual mask but he had spent, along with a friend, 3 hours fixing 2 inch metal pieces to the whole of his head. He looked fantastic but wouldn't tell us how he had done it.
My partner thought that was the way he always looked and had had multiple piercings!
Neither of us took a camera or our mobile (cell) phones that have cameras. The bar gets a bit congested and pockets tend to get picked, so we only take loose change to buy our drinks. Some people did take photos and, all being well, they will load them upto to their or the bars 'Flickr' page then I could copy it onto here.
Paul,
I'm blonde so I'm confused about the London Boat Show thread. I didn't catch you : ) Joking... I know you and I on the tangents!
So, member zziplexi is changing the title of the thread in the London International Boat show Jan 2010. It's now, Paul's Tangent. LOL. Then member ferdzz06, changed his response to, Priority club's most hijacked thread. It's now evolved to zziplexi changing it again in your memory!!! Keep up coming..What will it be named next?
Have fun!
Michael Jackson and Bernie Madoff masks. were big sellers around town, but none were worn at the Greenwich Village Gay parade, which is always the best for elaborate costumes.
Kids go trick or treating , but the grownups have now captured this holiday as their own, with parties, and elaborate costumes.
When my kids were small , they carried UNICEF boxes and .collected $$ that were brought into school the next day and sent by the school to UNICEF. I guess thaye stopped that and now it's just candy and more candy.
