We have been looking for more ways to bring more valuable content to the community, and we’re happy to welcome two “travel experts” to Priority Club Connect. Here’s some more information about them:
Gray has traveled to five countries and 16-plus U.S. states and have made numerous solo trips. Why does she travel alone? It's simple, it's usually because she can’t find someone else who has the money or desire to travel or who wants to go when and where she does. So her options are 1) don’t travel or 2) travel alone. She chooses to go it alone, and she shares her experiences on her web site. (www.solofriendly.com). Look for her in the community – her username is “Gray.”
Kriss Hammond "Jetsetters" of Jetsetters Magazine has been involved in the travel industry for over 30 years, including a professor of travel marketing, freelance writer and photographer with over 6,000 published features and 15,000 published photos, as a radio travel host, and as Editor of Jetsetters Magazine and Jetsettersblog.com. Under his guidance and ownership he has won five awards for best in travel websites on the Internet. He continues to travel and write extensively. His outdoor sporting activities include fly fishing, mountain biking, and hiking. Read his adventures here:http://www.jetsettersmagazine.com/archive/TWN/professor/professor.html. His username is “jetsetters,” so say hello if you see him!
hello ,
tank you for message
It depends on age of course but in the UK there is a company called SAGA which caters for over 50 YO travelers who wish to travel alone but with
others of the same age groups. They do have some great deals and cruises.
Welcome Solofriendly and Jetsetter,
Like Solofriendly, I too, am a solo traveler for most of the same reasons.. I love to travel, yet friends never want to go where or when I want to go. Some folks say , 'Yes, Yes', count me in." But when I tell them the plans they back out. Solo travel has many more advantages, than traveling with someone else.
I wish I was more like Jetsetter, writing and photographing. I have freelanced for years (not travel pieces), Occassionally my letters to the Travel Editor of the NY Times have been published. and since almost everyone I know reads the Times, I get phonecalls and emails congratulating or blasting me for my comments.
Thank you mrs. Vanessa

Thank you everyone for welcoming me. I look forward to contributing my experience as well as sharing IHG's wonderful travel tips with my readers.
For those who are interested, Jetsetters offers travelers (we work with the IHG Booking Center too to get good deals):
Welcome to the group. I look forward to reading your blog posts.
That is quite a long list of discounts to be had from your website- thank you !
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I'm happy to hear there are other solo travelers on this site as well. Ronald, thanks, I'm not over 50, but I am aware that there are tour groups specializing in singles and solo travel, where they will pair you up with someone to share a room with (to avoid the single supplement). I'm happier going my own way as a rule, though I would consider such a tour if I were going to certain countries where the culture and language are very different.
Welcome to this forum Gray!
Your solo travels will be of interest to my wife, she loves to travel and I am always working..
Thanks, RicksFamily! Glad to hear your wife travels solo too! I love spreading the gospel of solo travel. ![]()
Oh she has been doing this for years! It was her 'recharge' time when she was selling Real Estate (20 yrs of selling) she needed some time alone to recharge. She'd announce she was 'running away from work', sometimes she'd invite me, but mostly not... then off she'd go.
She enjoyed her jaunts, although they were all within the USA..
I think SAGA offers many rooms with out a singles supplement. For example they use a competitor hotel brand often and there is just a room charge.
Gray and Kriss, I'm glad to have you here! Welcome to the community and enjoy your stay! ![]()
